The Woodville is a thriving entertainment venue presenting a diverse range of events, shows and cinema screenings. In 2018 the venue celebrated 50 years of entertaining Gravesham; we are proud to be a community and creative hub at the heart of the local area, serving the borough and beyond. 

Spotlites café sits in the foyer of the theatre and welcomes visitors daily from Monday to Saturday 8:30 am – 3:30 pm. The Café also opens some evenings for Bistro service before selected performances, and our theatre bars operate 1 hour before shows and during intervals. The food and beverage department provide bar and catering services for internal events. No two days are the same for the theatre - we are proud to have a passionate and hard-working team who are committed to delivering an exciting programme of events.

The role  

The Café and Bar Supervisor ensures the Woodville theatre bars and Spotlites café provide a high quality service to all customers, and that the Food and Beverage department actively contributes to the development of a profitable business. They should exercise a good understanding of all Health & Safety practices including up to date HACCP and Food Hygiene Certificates Level 3 (the ability to achieve these or update these will be possible upon the uptake of the role if necessary). All staff at The Woodville are expected to work for the common good of the business and must ensure excellent customer service and delivery. 

This role requires a confident and experienced individual who is comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment that provides a service to a wide range of patrons. The foyer café serves local visitors as well as Gravesham Borough Council employees, in addition to patrons in attendance for shows and events. The Theatre Bars are operational before, during and after shows, and we also operate additional bar service for events within the venue and at Gravesham Borough Market. This is a varied role that would suit someone with previous Supervisor experience in hospitality and / or catering environment. You must have a passion for delivering great customer service and enjoy working as part of a large and flexible team. 

Main responsibilities 

    • Day to day supervision and guidance of staff in all Food and Beverage areas across the venue
    • To work with the Duty Manager to communicate daily specials and any menu changes to customers of the Bar and Café.
    • To create menus and tariffs that are exciting and appealing to our patrons and reflect the seasons and events.
    • To create a professional and inviting environment in Spotlites Café and the Theatre Bars.
    • To order stock and monitor it from delivery to usage, keeping accurate documentation of this process for auditing purposes
    • To secure the best possible quality and prices from our suppliers, thus delivering the highest possible gross profit.
    • To ensure compliance with the internal Customer Service training programme.
    • Ensure that all staff are familiar with and are adhering to all legislation and in-house procedures relating to codes of conduct, hygiene and health and safety
    • To work with all relevant staff to ensure financial targets are met.
    • To work alongside the F and B Senior and the Deputy General Manager to develop and implement a business plan for the F and B department for each 12 month period
    • Be responsible for the safe working practices of staff and the safe use of equipment ensuring that codes of practice and current regulations are adhered to.
    • Check equipment and stock levels as and when required and purchase accordingly.
    • Consider and contribute to any new initiatives that could enhance the overall image and profile of Woodville through its F and B service.
    • To act as a Duty Manager when required.
    • To undertake all training arranged, reasonable to position.
    • Accurately complete all relevant paperwork associated with any task undertaken
  • Ensuring that all cash handling, invoicing and banking matters are handled accurately and in accordance with predetermined procedures

 

  • Ensure that all tasks undertaken are done so within specified budgets and timescales, as agreed with the F and B Senior and the Deputy General Manager.Any other work as can be reasonably required for the smooth day to day running of Woodville to include a flexible working pattern, including evening, weekends and bank holidays as dictated by the needs of the business – to be taken as time in lieu or if approved, overtime payment at the basic rate.

QUALIFICATION TRAINING
